THIS PAGE AND THOSE FOLLOWING ARE REVIEWS I HAVE WRITTEN OF OUR EXPERIENCE'S STAYING ON SITE AND MAY NOT BE THE SAME AS OTHER CAMPER'S AS WE ALL HAVE DIFFERENT WANTS, NEEDS AND OPINIONS. FACTS AND PRICES'S STATED MAY CHANGE OVER THE YEARS AND I WILL TRY AND UPDATE THEM REGULARLY.
Here are few tips on Austrian Camp Sites.
No 1 they are usually pristine, clean and very tidy. No.2 Austrian's are also very friendly and helpful. Most speak and understand good smattering of English, appreciate if you try to speak a little German but will not mind if you do not know any.
No. 3 Toilet's, Shower's and Laundry Room's are of very high class.
No. 4 Very few have metered Electricity in fact we have never paid for any in Austria. ACSI Camping Card or not.
Fresh Bread is available daily on all of the sites reviewed.
THIS INFO BELOW IS SAME FOR KALKGRUBER.
Shopping facilities are good just a few minutes into Alt Ossiach village where there are various good Restaurants. Further away is the town of Feldkirchen a friendly shopping town with the usual Hofer (Aldi in England) Lidl, plus 2 good supermarkets. Further away is Villach with an excellent Indoor Shopping Centre with free parking for cars.
WiFi is excellent Satellite TV is good but you are far south and might be lucky to receive UK programmes. Sky is excellent.
On visiting this Campsite to visit some English friends met at Jodl twice in the past I can thoroughly recommend this lovely campsite. This year it takes ACSI CC price 15 Euro's
Owner, Frau Schabus is a very friendly lady and most helpful. Our friends spoke ver highly of her and the amenities on the site. I took some photo's for this website.
The Toilets and Showers + Laundry were modern and pristine clean. There are two WC's , two showers and two washbasins in each Ladies and Gents blocks. Washng up facilities are outside the block. There are just 30 pitches arrange on tiers. Grass was immaculate and there is a small fenced off Trout Pond with chickens too.
On the evening before our visit Frau Schabus took 2 eggs laid by her chickens to each caravan/motorhome saying they were for their Sunday Breakfast. What a lovely gesture?
There is WiFi on site at price of 5 Euros for 2 hours and 10 Euros for 10 hours. Trout is available in the Reception as is Bread to order daily. There is a small louge for campers use too.
The only downside is there is no view of the See but as my friend says the peace and quiet was certainly worth not having sight of the Lake and he had no qualms on recommending the site and would be back.

An excellent camp site which we love to stop at for quite a few days when wanting to tour around the Salzburg Area inc. Berchtesgaden. Situated right on the Mondsee as you can see from pictures below.
Restaurant is of excellent quality.
WiFi is available and Satellite TV reception excellent.
Showers, Toilets etc 5 star immaculately clean.
Pitches are of good size, EHU, Hard standing. Cars to be parked in the entrance car park (not far away) or you pay extra for the car left by the caravan after setting up.
Places to Visit are:-
Mondsee town to view the Church which was used in the Sound of Music for the Wedding.
Salzburg. Wonderful old city, excellent underground car park near the railway station. Take a Sound of Music Tour from City Centre you won't regret it. Shopping well lots of out of this world Shops all in alleys off the main shopping street in which you can also see Mozart's House and Birthplace.
Obendorf. A little ride from the site up the main A1 towards Salzburg and then turn off to the North for this little town right on the Austrian/German border. If you then follow the signs or ask for the Sille Nacht Kapel (Silent Night Chapel) You will arrive at the gorgeous little Chapel where the favourite Christmas Carol was written. Certainly well worth visiting, going into the Chapel and the Museum. A nice Gasthof opposite on corner of the square for coffee and snack.
St.Gilgen, Wolfgangsee and Wolfgang home of the famous White Horse Inn. If you go along the road SE to St. Gilgen a charming little town on end of the Wolfgangsee. Down by the See front are a row of nice shops, hotels and restaurants. There is a small carpark at the back of one of the shops, park your car and then pay in the shop before you leave for coffee or the harbour, buy a ticket, board the boat and cruise up the lake to Wolfgansee a lovely experience we have done many, many times for very little money. When you arrive walk to the White Horse Inn and have Coffee and Cake or lovely Lunch before touring the wonderful, picturesque town and returning back to the boat for your return journey.
CAMPING VIERTHALER, Reitsam 8, 5452 Pfarrwerfen, Austria. Website here Email:-email@example.com No ACSI Camping Card taken but price is €18.50 per night including Electricity and WiFi available all over the site is Free of Charge.
This Campsite was a real find for me. On travelling down the A10 Autobahn for years on our way to Karten and seeing the famous Werfen Schloss standing on a mountain on the right hand side of the road I have always longed to visit it. This Castle was made famous for being used in the films of "Where Eagles Dare" and "The Sound of Music".
Before visiting the Schloss I had to find a Campsite and there was nothing in the ACSI Camping Card Book so next thing was to attack the ACSI Campsite Disk and there behold was just what I wanted.
Early in the year I contacted the site by email asking for information about price, availability and accessibility for a large 8 metre caravan. Within a few hours I received a very nice, friendly and informative reply in excellent English. Pitch was booked and confirmed immediately.
This Campsite is family owned and has been since 1955. This Site deserves 5* for Friendliness, Pitches, Upkeep, Situation and Views. It is situated on the banks of the River Salzach though near to the A10 it is hundreds of feet below the road in the valley and you cannot hear any traffic noise at all. I am not sure how many pitches there are but I would guess at around 60 placed well apart. The railway, situated, on the other side of the river did not bother us.
Bread and Rolls are available daily to order and Pizza's can be cooked for you too.
DONAUPARK CAMPING. Donaulande, 76, Tulln an der Donau. Website:-here Email:-firstname.lastname@example.org ACSI Camping Card taken 2015
This Camp Site is Managed and is in an excellent position to visit the lovely city of Vienna. You can either walk or take the car to the railway station with park and ride and catch the train and underground to the centre of the City. There is an excellent City Sight Tour Bus leaving from outside the Opera, where you can alight from the underground.
It is just a few minutes ride into the lovely, riverside town of Tulln where there is excellent parking to shop or catch a boat for a trip up or down the river. The Vienna Woods are easily reached too.
Pitches, on site, are spacious and situated in various rings. Toilet facilities excellent. Office staff very helpful. Pictures of this site on our 2 trips to Vienna.
WEIN WEST CAMPING. This campsite was in the ACSI Camping Card system in 2008 when we stopped there. Website:- here Open all year it is a good base to visit Vienna as it is on the edge of the Vienna Woods.
It is 30 mins from the City by bus and underground. Bus stop is across the road from the site entrance taking you to the railway/underground station. 2/3 stops along the line is the Schonbrunn Palace station within a short walk to the Palace which must not be missed.
If you go to Trip for 2008 you can see more about this campsite. The reason we stopped at this site opposed to Tulln was we were travelling on to Hungary and this site was nearer the route. Overall this site was very good. Showers, Toilets and all facilities were excellent and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
CAMPING SEEHOF , Moosen 42, Kramsach. ACSI ***** Website:- here Email:-email@example.com ACSI CC taken 2015.
Campsite is situated within easy reach of the main A12 on the Reintalersee. The Toilets, Showers and Services are excellent all being fairly new. The Staff very friendly and helpful all speaking good English. WiFi was good but cannot remember the price off hand. More info on our visits there in 2010 and 2011. All round an excellent site.
The campsite has an excellent restaurant too which we enjoyed very much and can recommend. Pitches are grass and spacious with views. For Bread, Cakes and other items there is a Kiosk next to the Office. Plenty of lovely, picturesque places to visit nearby ie the lovely little walled town famous for its Glassware of Rattenburg a little bit further away is the Swavroski Factory and the Achensee. Within walking distance is the Museum of old Tyrolean Farmhouses, well worth a visit. You make a day trip over the Mountains to the famous Krimmel Falls going over a spectacular mountain pass and coming home through a lovely valley.
FERIENPARADIES NATTERSEE Nattersee 1, ACSI ***** No.943. 2015 Site Book.Website:-here Email:-firstname.lastname@example.org Mentioned in Caravan Europe.
Campsite is ideally situated for stop when travelling to Italy, Lake Garda and Venice as situated on the end of the Brenner Motorway. Also a good stop enroute West to Vienna, South to Karnten and Southern Austria and for journey to visit Slovenia and Croatia. We have not visited since 2008, when not all the new amenities where finished but the new Entrance and Office were completed. The Entrance I understand use to be very difficult for large outfits and that has been much improved and is excellent now.
WiFi had good reception and was €5 for 24 hours, not sure what it is now in 2012. Reception on our 80 cms Satellite Dish was excellent.
Showers, Toilets and other facilities where of excellent quality.
Pitches. were available of large size with all services on.
Views. Very open site with wonderful mountain views and very few trees.
Reception. was very friendly and helpful as was the Owner.
Restaurant was very good with varied menu and good friendly service.
Places to visit:- Rattenburg. Walled crystal making old world town with lovely Conditorei (Coffee and wonderful Cakes) named Cafe Hacker. Wattens. A small town on the way to the above where the Swravroski factory is situated and a wonderful tour can be had here ending with visit to the factory shop. Hall. Is another interesting town to visit. Of course a must to visit is the Alt Stadt (Old Town) of Innsbruck, itself, and view the Golden Roof lots of lovely little shops too, under covered walkways each side of the road.
A nice trip to make is north east to the Fernpass in the mountains, into Germany to visit Garmish Partinkirchen. Later can also be visited via Seefeld a shorter journey than by the Fern.
WALCH'S CAMPING AND LANDHAUS, Arlbergstrasse 93, Braz. ACSI Site No. 920 (2015 Book). Website:- here Email:- email@example.com Owner managed.
We have visited this camp site three times once to have a look and twice to stop. It is an excellent site and I would give it 5 stars for Location, Pitch's. Friendliness of Owner, Showers, Toilets, Laundry, Dog Showers, Skiing Facilities.
This is an excellent stopping place to stop for at least 2 nights and spend a day or two visiting the spectacular mountain area, en-route from the Black Forest or Bodensee to Innsbruck, for Italian Lakes and onwards to Salzburg, Vienna and Southern Austria..
The quiet, pretty, hamlet of Innerbraz is just one street with a 2 Gasthof's, one being The Traube, where we have stopped at three times over the years, which was excellent, but in later years since, the building of the Braz Golf Course, has become very expensive. There is also a small shop selling groceries etc.,
Satellite TV excellent most UK programmes available with 80 cms dish. WiFi available with good reception.
View's along the Valley are wonderful with Mountains both sides of you.
Being situated within easy reach of the E 60 main road (no traffic noise on site though) just west of the famous, long Arlberg Tunnel it is easy to visit charming small town of Bludenz, eastwards to Feldkirch another nice old town, worth a visit on your way to Vaduz in Liechtenstein which is worth a stop to look around. Fuel not cheap here as in Austria as Swiss prices but good for buying a Swiss Army Knife.
The camp site itself is situated on the Arlbergstrasse and is a lovely country road through mountain villages to St Anton, lovely skiing town to visit without having to travel through the Tunnel which is on the main road. This mountain road is easy driving with car, solo, not with caravan of any size. When moving with caravan drive back onto the E 60.
PANORAMACAMPING SONNENBERG, Hinteroferst 12. ACSI CC Site No. 946. (2015) Website:-here Email:-firstname.lastname@example.org We visited this site only once only because they stop taking Camping Card early June and we do enjoy the camp site above this better. It is just a few miles further West laying on the opposite side of Bludenz to Braz. The area to visit is the same as Braz.
The camp site it not very open, it is surrounded by housing but you do get a good view of the mountains beyond.
The Toilets and Showers not forgetting the Laundry are excellent 5 star and immaculate. Owner very helpful. Good WiFi available for a small fee.
Satellite TV excellent with all the usual UK programs being received via 80 cms. Dish and Sky Box.
Pitches are a good size and mainly hard standing.
