Hampton House Farm.                                                                                  Combrook. Kineton, Warwicks CV35 0JH.

We visited this Caravan Club CL to meet up with our friends from Exmouth once again this year 2014. When organizing the week in April it was decided, though we had a good time in 2011 as in review below,  we felt a nice CL would suit our needs better.  We checked on line and found the site below and booked it.  The owner Mrs C Gasson responded to my request immediately in a very friendly email.

The Site itself was a nice short cut, grass field with plenty of room for 5 vans with all the usual facilities of Water, Electricity 16 amp, Rubbish Bins and Emptying Pit.  Sadly no WiFi.

We enjoyed the company of the farms two horses in the adjacent field as you can see below.

All of the pretty Cotswold Towns and Villages were in easy reach including Stratford upon Avon, Warwick and Leamington Spa. The nearest shops were in Kineton just 4 miles from the campsite where there was a Londis shop with extensive stock of food and goods.

We enjoyed a visit to Banbury, a very nice little town, with a good variety of shops and a very nice shopping centre named Castle Quay which had good parking.

One disappointment was Anne Hathaway's Cottage which they wanted £9.50 to see inside which we thought was a lot of money, so we did not go inside.

I will not repeat the write up and photo's below but just add a few new photo's of this site and other places we visited.

Riverside Caravan Park, Tiddington.

We spent a week here, meeting friends from Exmouth, September 2011.  We found the site very pleasant and well kept.  Everything was very well organised much like a Caravan Club Site.

When you arrive you book in at the Office at the entrance to the Park after which you are asked to drive down to the bottom of the road where a guy in a golf buggy will take you to your pitch.  You are asked to put your jockey wheel onto the marker on the grass and to park your car on the offside or at the back of the caravan.  All caravans and motor homes face the same way.  The problem we had, being with friends with a European Motor Home with the door on the offside they had to pitch on the end of a line as they do not allow you to park door to door.  The other problem was the  pitch next to them was occupied so we were sited 2 pitches from.  The pitch on our nearside was empty but as the Motor Home door would be facing ours they were not allowed to pitch there.  A bit of a disappointment to us all.  We did not use the Showers/Toilets but our friends did who found they were very clean and water very hot.

We did not try the 99p breakfast but it sounded very good.  We did use the River Taxi which cost £1.50 per person per single trip into Stratford and thought it was excellent.  The boat is quite small just 7 persons and left the site at the hour and half hour.  Both of the men operating the boats were friendly and helpful.

It was a 5 minute walk into Tiddington, where there are a few shops Spar and Post Office.  5 miles away was the lovely National Trust Park and House of Chalcote which we visited and really enjoyed the experience.

Stratford is a very pleasant town with many shops including BHS, Debenham, and Marks and Spencer.  There are 3 supermarkets being Sainsbury's Morrision's and Tesco's.  There are many places to eat too.  A must to visit is Shakespear's Birthplace and Anne Hathaways's Cottage.  Within 30 miles you  can visit the lovely towns and villages of the Cotswolds, being Stow on the Wold, Burton on the Water, Moreton in the Marsh, Woodstock and Blenheim Palace, The Slaughters and Broadway to name a few.

In all we had a wonderful week with only one half day of rain so were able to get about to view all the area.   The campsite on a whole was excellent a bit too over organised with rows of caravan all facing the same way and quite close together, so no views at all or less you were lucky to be in the row down by the river.   What I could not understand was a hugely organised site like this and NO WI-FI or any way of getting onto the INTERNET.  On travelling through Europe this Spring all 8 sites had WiFi to the vans with costs varying from nothing to €1 an hour.     Awnings were £2.50 per night so needless to say we did not take ours, Dogs too are £1. 50 per night.  In all the price of £110 for 7 nights was good including electricity which was the out of season rate.

Wildmere Farm,  Holywell Row, Nr, Mildenhall, Suffolk. Caravan Club CL.

This CL is just 3 miles from home but we love it and feel miles further away when there.  The Owners David and Barbara Ovenden are wonderful friendly hosts.  The Campsite always looks immaculate with short cut grass.  The field has ample room for 5 Caravans/Motorhomes.

Each Pitch has its own water tap, grey water disposal, and television link, leads for this available in the little summer house situated in the corner of the field.  In here there are also lots of Books, CD's, DVD's to borrow, Caravan products for sale and lots of information on the local area and places to eat.
